Credit Union Economics Group releases Spring 2009 Regional Report  (PDF format).  All regions cited NCUA's corporate stabilization program as a concern for the upcoming year. There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the timing of the events and the recognition of the losses. However, credit unions are still focused on their number one priority: serving members. Credit unions are offering new loan products and also increasing their business loan portfolio balances with higher credit quality borrowers as banks become hesitant to make credit available.

Members of the Credit Union Economics Group are forecasting credit unions to increase their lending as well as anticipating a higher fed funs rate and lower unemployment in their April 2004 Consensus Forecast.

Bruce M. Beaudette, President and CEO of Sunmark Federal Credit Union, has become the newest member of the Credit Union Economics Group.  Mr. Beaudette also serves as Chairman of the Board of Empire Corporate Credit Union and has been working in the credit union community since 1980.  

4/4/03 - CUEG Meets with the Federal Reserve Board 

On April 4, CUEG members met with Federal Reserve Board Governor Mark Olsen to discuss recent economic and financial trends affecting credit unions. In addition, the CUEG members highlighted the important role of credit unions in providing consumer financial services.

A group of the nation's leading credit union economic observers has formed the Credit Union Economics Group (CUEG), which aims to provide credit unions with a strategic view of the economy, and consumer financial services.


 

CUEG intends to provide the credit union community as well as the general public with a biannual report discussing both current macroeconomic conditions as well as credit union-specific financial activity in each of the five NCUA regions.
